all i know is i'm lost without you
i'm not gonna lie
how i'm gonna strong without you
i need you by my side
if we ever said we'll never be together
in the end and we wave goodbye
don't know what i'll do
i'm lost without you

and she's gone.
at least, for the next nine months.

the week just whirled by so quickly. i had intended to spend more time with cheryl before she leaves, but my schedule has been so unpredictable it was hard.

but still we had met up on friday night for a night of good music, and meeting up with a dear old friend. suz doesn't allow them to call her the way we used to now, suggesting that they just call her ' susanna'.

but to me, she's my feather duster.

and when my feather duster sang rainbow connection, i could almost see the tears developing out of cheryl's eyes once more.

see, that song holds a special place in our hearts. that and 'follow your dream'.

and this morning at the airport, it was just pure anguish.

i was terribly exhausted, having slept a pathetic 90 minutes the night before. waking up at 5am was a nightmare but the walk to meeting the rest of them was therupatic. we tried to keep ourselves awake by saying the lamest jokes, and laughing ourselves silly a little.

but it's hard to describe the emotions. at times, it felt heartwretching even.

even before cheryl made her way in, tears were already forming out of their eyes. she kept reminding us all that we can't be married until summer and/or two years later, kept reminding the rest to keep her updated on the boyfriend sagas.

we were trying to keep our spirits up, but it was tough.

chy was sobbing like a baby, and the rest of them had swollen eyes.
even cheryl's mom was crying.

it was so difficult. and so heartbreaking.

she would walk a few steps. then turn back and starts hugging someone else again.
even when she went in, she kept turning back, waving to us all.

i just stood there. kept waving. kept ushering her to go in.
kept refraining the tears from falling.

until we couldn't see her anymore.

then i really sobbed.

last night's dinner was bittersweet.

we had all gathered, since it'd be the last time (in a while) for cheryl before she leaves next sunday for london. it was a lot of hardwork getting everything done, and preparing that little surprise for her, but it was all worthwhile.

and it was an advance 21st birthday for her, since i know she'd be celebrating without the love of us around next year.

but when she insisted on telling us how she felt, that was when everyone felt silent and just passed round the tissues as she relayed her thanks.

this is truly a friendship that has survived the tests of time and hardship and separation. some of us felt apart, but we all came back, realising the love we have for each other.

even i'd admit that these girls drive me crazy almost all the time, with their problems with punctuality, and bringing up the old school matters that just embarrasses me. but when i need them, they are always there.

cheryl was reminding everyone that we can only get married when she returns, or make sure that the wedding only occur when she's back for vacation next year during summer. but really, who's gonna get married so quickly?

we're making plans to go out again this friday to visit someone very dear to our hearts (she doesn't know it yet so it's a surprise!), and of course, i'll be at the airport at 5.30am*gasp* to send her off.

and be a pillow and/or pillar to the girls who will be tearing like nobody's business.

i'm so going to miss her when she's gone.

i hadn't been writing because i didn't think it was a good idea.

you know how they say that blogs are always a good platform of expressing how you feel about things, and shouldn't have any qualms about it? this week i felt as though it could be trespassed, and somehow, i didn't want that to happen.

the dear ones have been excited/worried/concerned/thrilled (whatever adjective that represents how you feel) about the latest happenings, and i have to admit that those mix emotions haven't been the ones that i've been expecting.

i thought everyone will just scream at me. but surprise, surprise! everyone's the sweetest so far.

i know, it's not my fault that things are happening, and i have chosen wisdom over all things, knowing that i have done the right thing.

and i thank the Lord that i'm disciplined enough to know how to prioritise, and thankful also that i have too much ongoing right now to keep me occupied.

who knows what's going to happen? but i know it'll be the good of everyone.

you know what they say that you'd be able to think clearer after a good night's rest?
well.. whoever they were, they are right.

in fact, it all just looked so much easier, simpler and clearer now. i'm armed with a game plan now, and all i need to do is press the 'start' button. i don't really care about whatever that's going to happen. strangely enough, i'm just having one notion in my head: to protect myself from everyone, including the 'allies'.

may's back for the weekend but we'd be occupied with family stuff this weekend. aunty sheela's condition is also one that we're very hopeful about. we're believing, that's what we can do.

this is how we overcome. this is how we overcome.
this is how we overcome. this is how we overcome.

god's been good, his grace is amazing.

to nick and pi-kia-chew for bearing with my grumbles and complaints (and whines) once more, a big H-U-G!

finally am done with dinner and dance, and what a relief it is.

would love to upload pictures, but why put up pictures when we had professional photographer taking pictures? think i'll wait for the negatives of those to come out.

anyway, whatever i took came out blurry! blame the-people-who-took-those-pictures' awful skills. not mine.
they gave me a bouquet tonight too. i love the flowers! they're pretty, and so sweet!

to everyone who has put in the effort, a big thank you.
peiling, thanks for everything you've helped to make sure it's alright. i'm appreciative.

sharene and i have set our sights on a thrilling vacation next year. it has been our dream since young, and we're so glad to be sowing this seed right now.

* hillsong conference 2007 *

teaching's getting a little more tedious and demanding now, especially with exams around the corner for the kids. beginning to understand mrs tan's initial pressure of teaching, it's really getting to me now like nobody's business. everything's getting a little tougher now. sometimes i try to understand their plight of the ever-so-demanding school work, but now i realise i'm not that patient with these anymore.

which is quite bad, because i know that i'm starting to get real angry.

may's preparing to leave for hostel for thursday. we all know she'll back on weekends, but everyone is just fussing over every single thing now for her, over her. think i'd definitely will miss the 'yakking', but glad that she's taking this step of independence, and experiencing something that's one-of-a-kind.

besides, it's only jurong. not switzerland.
